The Trade Compliance Lead ensures compliance of complex cross-border trade activities using substantial trade compliance knowledge. In this position, the professional will take into account country and foreign government regulations to move goods internationally, focusing on executing the controls established in Brazil. The professional will communicate effectively, and influence and demonstrate leadership behaviors that are consistent with Cargill values and high performance.
This role will work under minimal supervision and independently handle complex issues while referring only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
Apply and maintain operations standards and best practices to execute corporate policies and risk control frameworks to comply with government laws and regulations.
Guide businesses and regional or local team on trade compliance operations requirements related to Trade Facilitation Agreements and Free Trade Agreements in the subregion such as Mercosur and ALADI.
Conduct trade compliance operations trainings, process reviews and risk analysis to ensure data integrity, process adherence, control structure and compliance performance.
Manage local customs broker operations, and develop a relationship with governmental entities in cooperation with other functional teams at Cargill.
Liaise with partners to escalate compliance requests and receive guidance on new and changing regulations to implement changes in processes and controls.
Apply experience and knowledge managing government agencies such as ANVISA (National Health Surveillance Agency), MAPA (Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply), and Ministério da Economia to provide guidance to businesses and trade compliance operations teams on new and changing trade flows.
Support risk assessments, ruling application, government audits/escalations, and voluntary disclosures.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in foreign trade and trade compliance.
Solid experience in foreign trade and trade compliance.
Demonstrated client/customer focus and strong relationship builder
Advanced knowledge on export and import controls, customs and government regulations in Brazil.
Experience managing compliance with Free Trade Agreements currently used in Brazil (Mercosur, ALADI)
Fluent in English
Communicate effectively to influence across the organization and with external partners
Advanced critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
Ability to travel up to 15%
Deep Incoterms 2010 and 2020 knowledge
